Amitabha Buddha Thangka, who is also known as Amitaya is known for his longevity attribute and the aggregate of distinguishing (recognition) and the deep awareness of individualities. According to the original Buddhist scriptures, Amitābha manifested infinite merits resulting from a long series of good deeds during countless life times.
"Amitābha" is roughly translatable as "Infinite Light," hence He is called "The Buddha of Infinite Light."
He is associated with the color red, and the western direction which is where the sun sets. All of Tibetan Buddhism is closely connected to the deep red energy of compassion, hence the Lotus family of Guru Rinpoche, Chenrezig, Tara and H. H. the Dalai Lama.
