What can I do today to create well-being in my life?
One of the simplest easiest and most beneficial things you can do today to create well-being in your life is to bless the place in which you live. Performing a house blessing is a wonderful activity. It creates an instant sense of well being. A house blessing is essentially like bathing, washing and purifying the atmosphere of your home with a positive energy. You will likely notice an increase in happiness, joy, relaxation and contentment after doing the house blessing.
There are certain auspicious times to perform a house blessing. For example, during the 2 days before, the day of, and 2 days after a full moon are generally the most beneficial time.
Why is a full-moon time more beneficial for performing house blessing? Most of the world’s sacred religious and spiritual traditions have acknowledged that there are cycles of energy in nature which when coordinated with create better results. This is similar to understanding the tidal action of the ocean. If we cooperate with the electromagtic activity of the Sun, Solar System, and greater life of the energy flows of the galaxcy, then our lives will be harmonized with these powerful sources of energy.
For tens of thousands of years people have studied the cycles of nature in order to have successful planting and harvesting of crops. Knowing when the solstices or equinox occured was critical to their success. Until this day most farmers use the Farmers Almanac to plan their crop planting.
In our modern world we have a better understanding of the subtle energies of thought and the power of intentions, which was mentioned in the movie The Secret. We also have become increasingly aware that we are “planting thoughts and intentions” with our mind and emotions every moment. This is often called karmic activity, or sowing and reaping. We are planting, cultivating and harvesting our intentions. We all want more happiness, joy, well being, deeper love and connection with one another. This is the purpose of understanding the Secret, or power of intentions. What better way to anchor our best intentions than to give them maximum exposure during key times of the month?
Of course, you can bless your home, bedroom or personal space any time that the need arises.
Here’s how to do a house blessing;
1. Pick a time when everyone can participate. Generally speaking that’s going to be in the early evening either before or after dinner.
2. The you’ll need to set aside is 10 minutes to house blessing.
3. Start in the most sacred part of your house or home. That can be your bedroom or wherever you meditate or do inspirational reading.
4. You should’ve pre-selected a prayer that means the most to you. One of the best prayers to use is the Great Invocation. This is the prayer that I use on a regular basis. The reason the Great Invocation is a good prayer to use is that it has been capacity to invoke the universal qualities of the light of God, the Love of God and the Will of God. This allows you to strengthen your home with the three primary energies of life, divinity, higher power or God.
If this prayer does not appeal to you then you can use whatever prayer feels best for your needs.
5. Gather together at the starting point in your home. Recite the prayer out loud together as you walk around the house from room to room.
You can carry a stick of incense a candle, prayer beads and other sacred items to carry with you as you perform the house blessing.
When you arrive back at the starting point sit for a few minutes in a spirit of gratitude, appreciation, wonder and joy.
