Losar Tibetan New Year Celebrations at Garchen Institute
Losar Celebration is the celebration of the Tibetan New Year. Unlike our western calendar New Years Celebration which lasts only one evening, Losar lasts several days.
The Tibetan New Year is filled with spiritual, family and community celebrations. Since the Tibetan Buddhist people are spiritually oriented, the celebrations include prayers, chanting and Palden Lamo practice, or other meditation practice such as Lama Chopa.
At the Garchen Institute in Chino Valley Arizona there will be celebrations with His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, Tragu Rinpoche and many other lamas.
The date of Losar is February 17 (Wednesday), 2010. Celebrations will begin at, 9:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.
The Garchen Institute welcomes your participation in our annual
celebration of Losar, the Tibetan New Year. Join us in celebrating
this auspicious time of renewal!
A Lama Chopa Tsok Offering will be held at 9:00 a.m. (donations of
fruits, nuts, and candies for the tsok are welcome), followed by a free
celebratory noon meal sponsored by His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche.
