The Dalai Lama to Give Teachings in Long Beach California Sept 25-26, 2009

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give teachings and meditation initiations, aka, empowerments, at the Long Beach Convention Center Sept. 25th and 26th , 2009. Khensur Rinpoche Lobjamyang, Geshe Norbu Chophol and all Dharma students at Geden Shoeling are pleased to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Southern California visit on Sept 25th & 26th, 2009.

The Dalai Lama is the temporal leader of the Tibetan People in exhile. Additionally, he is one of the primary spiritual leaders of the Tibetan Buddhist Religion of Vajrayana Buddhism as well.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be giving Teachings on the Four Noble Truths, Amitabha Initiation and Medicine Buddha Initiation at the Long Beach Convention Center on the following dates:

Friday, September 25, 2009 Saturday September 26, 2009
9:30am-11:30am = Teaching 9:30am-11:30am = Teaching
2pm-4pm = Teaching.

Teachings will be given by The Dalai Lama in Tibetan with translations in English and Vietnamese languages provided. Chinese translation may be available if there is enough demand.

Who may attend:

Attendees do not need to be Buddhist, or become Buddhists to attend the teachings by His Holiness. The Dalai Lama’s teaching style allows for anyone interested in the Tibetan Culture, Buddhist Psychology, the historyand background of Buddhism or Buddhist philosophy to gain benefit.

Due to the nature of the long lecture and teachings, we kindly request that event goers be at least 12 years old or older.

Dear Prospective Registrants:

Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm in His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s teaching event hosted by our center this September 2009. Please request tickets by mail (see instructions above) and specify which days or both to which you wish to attend and whether you will require any special assistance.

If you wish to volunteer, you will also have to fill out the volunteer form and send a passport-sized photograph of yourself.

Donations to sponsor free teaching and luncheon to monks and nuns and/or to support the general organization of this auspicious event are welcome and deeply appreciated.

The tickets are free and available on first-come first-served basis, but, at this time, are limited to maximum 3 per family. Additional tickets for each registrant and family may be available and will be determined in the near future as we wish to give everyone equal opportunity to access and attend His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s precious teaching. Except for our honored guests, there will be no seating assignment as it will be general admission.

As expected with any organized teaching by His Holiness The Dalai Lama, there will be security check at the entrance prior to each session and there will be restrictions on certain items to be brought into the arena such as cameras, audio and video equipments, cell phones with camera and/or recording capability, etc, and of course, any weapons and fire-hazard items.

We are currently preparing a booklet to accompany the event with a brief description of the Four Noble Truths, the Medicine Buddha Initiation, and the Amitabha Buddha Permission Initiation. The Four Noble Truths are the foundation of all Buddhist teachings given by the historical Lord Shakyamuni Buddha in Bodh Gaya India 2,500 years ago.

If is recommended to that you engage in some preparatory reading about the Four Noble Truths, Medicine Buddha and Amitabha Buddha practices before attending the teachings to enrich and deepen your experience.
